FAQs

Questions about the BoxWing pedalboards?  If you can't find the answer here, shoot us a message at bratcoinnovations@gmail.com and we'll get back to you.

Can I get another color?     The BoxWing Smoke is a dark gray acrylic with black ribs and a white light. The Ruby is bright red acrylic with white ribs and a red light.  The light bars are removable and we have other colors available in the accessories section. The wood is a medium oak stain with a clear PETG shell.  We will be adding customizable acrylic colors in the future. Scoop risers will also be available in an array of transparent colors.

Why is there just one size?     For the past few months we've been working on tooling and tweaking and getting this just right. Once we decide on the next size, we'll get it into production.

Will the LEDs cause a hum?     In all of our testing, we haven't had a hum yet.  The lights are enclosed in polycarbonate, and under 3/16" of acrylic/PETG, which offer a thick layer of insulation between the lights and pedals.  There is a mid-board underbody notch to run your wiring if you prefer to keep it far away.

Will this scratch?      Yes. While acrylic (plexiglas) and PETG are very strong, they will get little surface scratches over time.  The colored acrylic can be brought back to looking new with an acrylic polish like Novus or PlastX. The clear PETG doesn't polish well, so you'll have to learn to love the scratches.  Use care when attaching your pedals, always use a soft rag or microfiber cloth (no paper towels!), and use a plastic polish or water to clean.  Solvents and household cleaners are a definite no - they can cloud the surface or cause it to craze.

Will it crack?      Not unless you really mistreat it.  The shell is thick, strong, and well supported. The ribs and nylon screws are meant to have some give. Don't drop it on hard surfaces from high up or use it as a trampoline and you should be fine.

Will it melt?    If you bake it in an oven. Don't do that.  It takes us an extended period of time to make a bend at over 300 degrees fahrenheit.

Do I need special tools?      The only tools you might need to take it apart are a flat head screwdriver and wrench. The floor is held on with thumbscrews and the feet screw off by hand, so you can always access the interior without them. The side ribs and jack plates need a screwdriver. The audio jacks have regular nuts that could vibrate loose - we include a set of locking nuts with your board that would need a wrench to remove once installed.

Is it powered?      No. You need to provide your own center negative power supply - any U.S. standard guitar power box will work. (Note that the LED bar needs a 12v inlet.) How you do your setup is up to you - there is one standard AC receptacle (where you would plug in an extension cord to the wall outlet) included that can be switched to either side.  It is unwired on the inside.  You can wire it to your power supply yourself, or we have a premade interior cord available in the accessories section that plugs right in if you want a ready-to-play solution. The 4 audio jacks are unwired - we have jacks with pigtails for plug and play as well.

Will it be available outside the U.S.?      Not yet, but soon.  We're figuring out shipping options as the box size makes the dimensional weight high.
